Rio Grande stands by its products with a generous returns policy. If you're not completely satisfied with any product purchased from us, return it within 45 days. We will handle your return upon receipt within 5 business days.


Please Note:

  • Returns from international addresses are not eligible for our Free Returns service.

  • We cannot refund international shipping charges, duties or taxes.

  • We do not accept returns postmarked more than 180 days after the invoice date.

  • Hazardous items, special-order items, custom-made items, physically altered items and partially used packages are not returnable.

  • We reserve the right to refuse merchandise that is returned after the 45-day warranty period or to charge additional restocking fees based on the original invoice date.

  • Please always contact us prior to returning an item from an international address.

Hazardous materials

Subject to Department of Transportation rules and regulations, Rio Grande cannot accept or process returns for hazardous materials. When we receive returns containing hazardous material, a specialist properly disposes of the material and no refund is processed.


Precious metal, milled materials, casting grain and precious metal clay

For returns postmarked within 45 days of the invoice date, we will refund or issue a Rio Grande credit based on the invoice price. For returns postmarked more than 45 days after the invoice date, we will charge a 15% restocking fee and issue a Rio Grande credit only.


Findings, tools, equipment and display items 

For returns postmarked within 45 days of the invoice date, we will issue a full refund or Rio Grande credit based on the invoice price. For returns postmarked more than 45 days after the invoice date, we will charge a 10% restocking fee and issue a Rio Grande credit only.


Exchanges and replacements

We consider an exchange to involve comparable items. If you receive an item that defective or damaged and would like to exchange it for the same item, we will pay for shipping. If you return an item and request a different item, a new order is generated and normal shipping costs will apply.

Please fill out the back of your invoice and include the bottom portion for each return. Also indicate if you prefer the credit to be issued to your original method of payment or to your Rio account. Orders placed through PayPal will be refunded as a credit to your Rio Grande account.
